Arvind Choudhary OAKVILLE MAYORAL CANDIDATE 2026

Oakville is one of the great towns, but HEADING THE WRONG WAY

Oakville, Ontario

Thank you,
Oakville.

2026 municipal election · Voting closed 26 October

The plan we put forward

The first year, day by day.

Promises without deadlines are hopes. This was the plan Arvind put to Oakville: what would get done, and when, starting the day after the election.

First
30 days

Heritage, accountability & smart planning.

  • Audit town spending: open up the books from day one to hunt down waste, cut unnecessary costs, and redirect your tax dollars to local priorities.
  • Guarantee Bronte Canada Day, forever: establish a dedicated task force of local residents, youth, emergency services, town staff, local businesses and the Chamber of Commerce to permanently secure Canada Day at Bronte Heritage Waterfront Park, so its future is never questioned again.
  • Proudly celebrate Christmas: the town officially recognizes Merry Christmas in place of generic “Happy Holidays” phrasing, while ensuring every local cultural festival is celebrated to its fullest.
  • Pause unchecked Midtown density: freeze high-density occupancy permits in Midtown to evaluate real impacts on traffic, local infrastructure and emergency services before approving more units.
  • Open-door town halls: hold open community listening sessions across our wards to set a baseline of complete transparency.

60 days

Protecting seniors & connecting our community.

  • Launch the Senior Shield: roll out the Senior Shield Task Force in partnership with local police to safeguard older residents from targeted financial scams and fraud.
  • Fix transit gaps: adjust local transit routes so residents can easily get to places of worship, community hubs and underserviced neighbourhoods.
  • Invest in youth: set up the Youth Venture Fund to offer mentorship, capital and career opportunities for young local entrepreneurs.

90 days

Cracking down on crime & building infrastructure.

  • Action on community safety: roll out a direct crime-prevention framework featuring increased neighbourhood patrols, active auto-theft deterrence, and stronger commercial-area security.
  • Break ground on the sports dome: finalize the location and break ground on a multi-sport dome for local families and youth athletes.
  • 100-day accountability report: host a public progress report to show exactly what has been accomplished on our commitments.
  • Business Advisory Council: bring local commercial leaders together to finalize incentives for attracting high-tech and medical companies.

6 months

Job growth & smarter planning.

  • Build a local tech & medical hub: open zoning and intake channels to attract top-tier technology and medical employers, targeting 5,000 high-paying local jobs.
  • Better campus transit: expand bus connections to post-secondary campuses so local students and commuters get fast, reliable transit.
  • Budget realignment: apply our initial audit findings to build a lean budget structured directly around essential community services.

1 year

Guaranteed tax relief & major delivery.

  • Deliver the 2027 property-tax freeze: officially pass a frozen property-tax rate for 2027 to give homeowners and local families direct financial relief.
  • Track job-creation progress: evaluate results from our initial economic drive to bring quality tech and healthcare jobs to town.
  • Deliver capital projects: complete phase-one construction milestones on our major community infrastructure and sports projects.

The whole race, in one number

Barely one in four of us voted in 2022.

Three in four Oakville residents stayed home, so a handful of people decided everything: schools, roads, taxes, growth. That is why this campaign asked every neighbour to show up.

Whoever you voted for, thank you for being one of the people who decided.

The People’s Platform

Forty-four commitments. Nine parts. One town.

This was a work plan, not a list of slogans, and it was built from thousands of doorstep conversations across Oakville.

1

Growth, housing & affordability

Keep the small-town feel: no shoebox towers, growth reviews decided with Palermo and Midtown residents, and slashed development charges on family townhomes.

2

Taxes & accountability

Freeze property taxes for 2027, open every policy meeting to the public, and put a lobbyist registry and real service standards behind town hall.

3

A safer Oakville

Emergency services front and centre, licence-plate cameras at highway points, closer community policing, and seniors protected from fraud.

4

Schools & youth

Real classrooms instead of portables, monthly career workshops, a yearly Youth Festival and a Mayor’s Youth Council.

5

Transit, traffic & parking

Any corner of town to a GO station in 15 minutes, smart traffic lights, multi-level parking downtown and in Bronte.

6

Jobs & the economy

One of Canada’s easiest towns to do business in: MedTech and CleanTech jobs, a revitalized Kerr Village, not hyperscale data centres.

7

A town that cares

A seniors counter at town hall, $500 bereavement support, the Mayor’s Being Human fund and an Oakville Peace Committee.

8

Indigenous partnership

Monthly meetings, Indigenous representation on town staff, and standing for the land acknowledgement, every time.

9

A green Oakville

Protect Glen Abbey golf course permanently, take creeks and stormwater seriously, and pioneer the Tech Fast Resort.

About Arvind

A neighbour who stepped up.

A proud resident of Glen Abbey, deeply committed to serving the town my family is truly blessed to call home.

Thirty-plus years across technology, finance and public policy. An executive at one of Canada’s leading credit bureaus. A member of the Ontario Real Estate Association’s Government Relations Committee for 2025, where I worked on housing and infrastructure policy. And a father of two, married to Ruby, in a house where somebody is always playing something.
